According to information shared from professional units, in the first 5 months of 2023, the Vietnam Social Insurance industry continued to perform the following targets, tasks, and estimated results:
- The collection and development of participants in social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance achieved and increased compared to the same period in 2022 with: about 17.47 million people participating in social insurance, accounting for 37.48% of the labor force in the age group, increasing 2.7% over the same period in 2022. In particular, the sector has achieved positive results with about 90.69 million people participating in health insurance (an increase of 4.43 million people compared to the same period in 2022). Total revenue from social insurance, health insurance and unemployment insurance is estimated at 178,772 billion VND.
- Handling of social insurance and health insurance regimes and policies: it is estimated to settle 26,014 dossiers of monthly pension and social insurance allowance; 547,989 people enjoy one-time social insurance benefits; settlement of 3,638,974 turns of people enjoying sickness, maternity, convalescence and health rehabilitation benefits. Coordinate with the Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs sector to settle 376,023 people entitled to unemployment insurance benefits; in which 368,028 people enjoy unemployment benefits and 7,995 people enjoy vocational training support.
In addition, in the first 5 months of 2023, the sector performed well the settlement, payment of benefits, and guaranteed health insurance benefits for an estimated 69.7 million times of medical examination and treatment covered by health insurance, corresponding to the amount of medical and health care expenses covered by health insurance. 47,466 billion VND. In particular, Vietnam Social Insurance has closely coordinated with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance to handle many problems in payment of medical and health care costs covered by health insurance, ensuring the interests of patients with health insurance and operating expenses of health care facilities. Accordingly, the shortage of drugs at health care facilities covered by health insurance and difficulties in using medical equipment and paying for technical services made from these equipment have been basically solved.

In the field of social insurance, the situation of late payment is still high or the settlement of benefits for employees affected by the bankruptcy or dissolution of enterprises...
Leaders of the IT Center also informed that Vietnam Social Security had successfully piloted the Customer Care Call Center of Vietnam Social Insurance (1900.9068) to assist people in re-granting VSSID application account passwords.
